I Ain’t Missing You

Our lives are full of people, some temporary, some forever — or at least it feels likes it’s going to be forever.

The thing with forever though is that it doesn’t exist. Nothing ever lasts forever. We’re all temporary.

We’re all passing ships in the night. We’re all fleeting stars shining brightly one night to be over-shadowed and gone the next.

Does that make any of us mean any less?

Just because something won’t be in your life in a few weeks, months or years from now doesn’t mean it isn’t exactly what you need right now. It’s still important. It’s still meaningful. It’s still a valid part of your life and your story.

People come and go, things change, you grow up and you’re never going to be the same person as you were yesterday.

Some people will be forever, or at least for the foreseeable future. Some will walk out just as quickly as they walked in.

Some things are permanent and some are merely seasonal.

If you can change from one day to the next then so can others around you. Often you change and you shift onto different wavelengths and paths. You need to travel down a new road and leave some people on the old one, going a very different direction.

That is okay.

That is fine.

That is life.

Go your own way. Travel your own path. Live your life to your tune and don’t fret over the small things. Nothing is permanent. Nobody will be forever. Not even you.

Learn to appreciate what and who you have while you have them. Tell them what they mean to you. Show them how extraordinary they are. Then let them go. Be alright with cutting those ties for you both to be able to go out into the world on the path you both need to follow.

If you love something, set it free. If it’s meant to be, it’ll come back to you. If it’s not, it was fun while it lasted.

Life’s not meant to be lived in one place, or with the same people, or routine. A static existence is a boring one. Aim to keep moving. Aim to keep growing. Aim to keep finding your feet and your heart in many different places.

Eventually, one will stick, and it will feel like you’re moving even when you’re standing still.

Find the places and the people who make your heart dance and put your mind at ease and be willing to let go of the ones who are no longer making you happy, or are no longer happy themselves.

“I know we’ll never see those days again

And things will never be that way again

But that’s just how it goes

People change but I know I won’t forget you

Where are you now

‘Cause I’m thinking of you

You showed me how

How to live like I do

If it wasn’t for you I would never be who I am.”

– Honor Society.

We all need to live an existence we’re happy with and it’s okay to go chasing that, and to let other’s chase their own.

Until next time
